D-Link x TSG Hawks

Overview

We were asked by D-Link, a leading brand in IoT and switches, to create a video promoting one of its latest routers by associating its personality with Taiwanese baseball player Wang Po-Jung (王柏融), an active player in TSG's Hawks team. ADIDAS brand was part of the video as Hawks' team sponsor.

Our goal was to create a video that resonates with the spirit of the Hawks Baseball team and its fans, while showcasing the product with the same grit.

The aim of the video was not to showcase the product's features but to present it through humanized characteristics

Challenges & Approach

One of the biggest challenges was creating a video that would effectively promote a router, which is commonly associated with indoor environments (homes, offices), not only by showcasing it in a context that typically clashes with it in the public imagination but also by crafting a visually stunning experience that would smoothly capture the viewers' attention.

While working on the storyboard and consulting with professionals from various fields, we planned the shoot in a way that made it possible to incorporate 3D elements in post-production. This approach allowed more room for creative visual solutions that revealed the energy hidden in the client's product.


The result

The video featured stunning visuals of the main actor in action, set against a dark background that emphasized his abilities and characteristics, which were later transferred onto the product. To highlight the main actor’s strength, we represented his adversary as a potentially stronger player—potentially because the shadows concealing him prevent us from forming a definite idea of his qualities.
The actions are accompanied by an engaging soundtrack with increasing energy that invites the audience to keep watching.

The video effectively conveys a sense of energy and power to the audience through a complete circular storyline that simplifies the concept of a three-act structure: beginning, development, and end (it starts with the actor entering the scene, continues with a challenge, and ends with the main actor's victory and exit).

The video was well-received by D-Link's target audience, helping to increase brand awareness and drive sales.
The client was satisfied with the video and decided to showcase it on large advertising screens along popular commercial roads in the center of Taipei (Ximending).
This was a testament to our team's ability to create visually compelling content that resonates with audiences and achieves business objectives.
