Overview

D-Link asked me to propose scripts for a 4-episode video advertisement series that would promote its VR USB dongle for Oculus (by Meta), emphasizing the convenience of using the VR headset without the limitations imposed by a cable.
The goal was to create content that entertains with a feeling of lightness, delivering to the audience a sense of freedom associated with the product.

After the scripts were approved, I had various tasks: directing the actors and the shooting team on set, deciding the color palette for the videos, selecting the actors' clothing to match the mood and colors of the scenes, and preparing the set design.
A team of eleven people helped me make the best choices in each area.
It was a great opportunity to experience the different fields that bring a commercial video to life.


Challenges & Approach

The main challenge was time. Given the small budget, we had only 2 days (16 hours) to complete the shoot.
The preparation before the shooting days played a key role.
From the storyboard to the shot list, and material that helped the actors prepare their roles beforehand, all efforts to refine the details and create a clear shooting plan minimized surprises and risks, allowing us to achieve good results within the expected timeframe.
This wouldn't have been possible without effective communication with everyone involved in the project and their skills.
We had a team that was reactive and quick in solving problems while continuing to meet the creative needs of the work.


The result

The final result is a series of videos that entertain with a soft comedic style. It maintains a relaxed mood while aiming to evoke a smile from the audience, helping to associate positive vibes with the brand and its product.
The videos present a variety of situations to showcase the issues and the solution (the product) from different perspectives, avoiding any sense of repetitiveness.
The series was well received by the audience, who were surprised by the quality of the work for such a small product.
